Lake Garda - Sport & outdoor
The atmosphere in the Laser category is competitive, but relaxed. I think since Laser boats are so simple but high-level at the same time, all laserists have a lot of respect for their rivals, because we all know the effort everyone has made to reach such a high level. We often create groups to train together, with improvement as our aim.
Postponing the Olympics was a relief to me, in a way. When the pandemic started, and all plans started to change, we didn’t know what was going to happen with the Olympic Games, and what we would have to go through to be able to train. When the decision was made to move the games to 2021, we had a specific date to plan for, and start training to get to the best possible level. It was a big change for all of us, but it gave us purpose to get through these difficult times.
I don’t know what the future holds, but I would like to be in Guatemala with my family, so I think it would be difficult for me to be a coach and travel a lot. I always consider myself an active person, and when I retire from sailing I would like to be able to practice other sports at an amateur level. If I am still involved as a coach or manager, it will be to follow my son – if and when he starts sailing!
For many years the Residence Centro Vela has been a second home for me. I met you during my first trip to Riva del Garda in 2010, and I have always come back here to stay. Centro Vela is very comfortable and the location is very central, making everything very easy. I love being able to wake up and have breakfast with a view of the mountains on my balcony! What I liked most is your helpfulness; everyone is very friendly and always available to help me in my stay and in my Olympic campaign. Thanks to you, the Residence Centro Vela is for me a “home away from home”!
