Lake Garda
Lake Garda is one of those places that truly captures your heart. Thanks to its crystal-clear waters, charming lakeside towns, and surrounding natural beauty all play their part. But if there’s one thing that really leaves you speechless, it’s the views. We’ve selected six unmissable scenic spots of Lake Garda for you: a combination of emotion, beauty and, why not, a touch of adventure.
Reachable in a few minutes thanks to the convenient panoramic lift, Bastione of Riva del Garda controls the lake from above like a silent guardian. This 16th-century Venetian fortification offers a privileged view of the town, the harbour and the surrounding mountains. Once at the top, you can stop by the bistro for an aperitivo or simply enjoy the silence. If you like walking, the well-marked path that climbs from the old town rewards you with enchanting views at every turn.
The name says it all: the “Terrace of Thrill” is not only one of Lake Garda’s most iconic viewpoints, but also one of the most exciting. Situated at a height of more than 350 metres, it literally seems to be suspended in the void. The view is truly breathtaking: below you, nothing but the shimmering colour of the water; around you, the green of the mountains and the blue of the sky. The terrace is located next to Hotel Paradiso, but it’s also open to non-guests. A word of advice? Visit at sunset: the colours are pure magic.
Set on a rock, overlooking the lake, the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Montecastello is a hidden gem suspended between sky and water. From here, the panorama stretches from Limone to Malcesine, all the way to the Veronese shore. The sanctuary can be reached by car or on foot via panoramic paths and offers a perfect mix of tranquillity, nature and breathtaking beauty.
If you love adrenaline-pumping experiences, don’t miss the Tibetan bridge that connects the woods above the town of Torri del Benaco: a footbridge suspended between two ridges offers a truly unique view of the lake. After the excitement of the crossing, descend to the town of Torri del Benaco: elegant, romantic, with its Scaliger Castle which reflects in the water. Even from here the panorama is suggestive, especially in the evening hours, when the light reflects on the waves and silence takes over.
The excursion to Cima Mughera is a true immersion in nature. The route usually begins from Pregasina or the Nota Pass, and then walks through woods, rocks and mountain scents. At the top, the reward is extraordinary: a natural balcony overlooking Lake Garda, from which one’s gaze sweeps over the entire northern slope. On clear days, you can even glimpse the south coast of the lake. Ideal for trained hikers and photography enthusiasts.
At the very tip of the Sirmione peninsula lie the ruins of the most impressive Roman villa on Lake Garda: the Grotte di Catullo. Between ancient columns and centuries-old olive trees, the panorama here is poetic, just like the verses of the Latin poet after whom the site is named. The view stretches wide and bright, with the water surrounding the peninsula on all sides.
Whether you want to climb to the top of a mountain, lose yourself among Roman ruins or simply look out from a terrace over endless blue, Lake Garda always finds a way to surprise you and we at Residence Centro Vela are waiting to part of your journey, helping to turn every moment into an unforgettable experience.
