The main events of 2025 on Lake Garda

There is a time of year, between the end of July and the beginning of autumn, when Lake Garda seems to vibe in harmony with those who live it, pass through it, observe it. The days become sweeter, the sunsets longer, and the desire to stay outside blending seamlessly with an agenda of appointments that seems to be made especially for those who love to take things slowly. 

If you are planning your holiday on Lake Garda or simply looking for some inspiration for the upcoming months, here is a selection of unmissable events in 2025. Music, sport, markets and fairytale atmospheres: every occasion becomes the perfect excuse to let yourself be surprised. 

 

August: when the lake becomes a stage  

 

Those who have previously visited this area are well aware: August is the month when the lake comes alive with lights, sounds, and scents. The small towns dress up and each evening seems to tell a different story. 

Among the highlights in Riva del Garda there is one event that, year after year, marks the grand finale of the summer season: La Notte di Fiaba (27th–31st August). The old town centre is transformed into a true open-air theatre, with shows, children’s workshops, live music and an atmosphere suspended somewhere between dream and reality. It is an event that has the power to make children’s eyes sparkle and awaken wonder in adults as well. 

On the other hand, from 28th July to 10th August, jazz melodies weave their way through squares and gardens during the Garda Jazz Festival, a much-loved celebration that brings musicians from near and far to the lakeside. It’s the kind of music that doesn’t intrude – it simply accompanies the moment, adding the perfect soundtrack to summer evenings.  

 

September and October: slower breaths, deeper feelings 

 

September and October are the ideal months to enjoy the lake calmly: fewer crowds, more space, more time to savour every moment. 

Among the most evocative events, on 20th September occurs the “Note di Fuochi”, a fireworks show that transforms the lake into a shimmering canvas of light and colours. An experience to be enjoyed barefoot on the shore, perhaps after a candlelight dinner. 

In Arco, from 17th to 19th October, it is time for the great return of the Rock Master, the iconic climbing competition that draws athletes and spectators from all around the world. The vertical walls become theatrical backdrops for breathtaking athletic feats. 

 

Everything else: small events, big emotions 

 

Sometimes you don’t need a big festival to get excited: just stroll through the centre of Torbole in the evening and come across street performers playing and singing. Or sitting at a table overlooking the lake during a farmers’ market in Riva del Garda, sipping freshly extracted apple juice and tasting mountain hut cheese. 

 And then there are the regattas, near-weekly ritual on these waters, animated by the Ora wind that is familiar for those who know the lake. The sails trace delicate patterns across the surface, and those watching from land find themselves, without realising it, cheering for the next board.
