Lake Garda - Sport & outdoor
This year, Residence Centro Vela celebrated its (first) thirty years of activity: our Lake Garda residence opened its doors in 1992, the latest chapter in a history of hospitality with much deeper roots.
In fact, our family has been working in the world of tourism since the Seventies, starting with an ice cream shop founded by our forefather Luciano Zanoni, in the center of Vienna (read: our story). Our residence soon became a reference point for sailing lovers on Lake Garda, reinventing itself year after year to exceed the needs of its clients, ensuring space, quality and sustainability, especially after the 2013 restyling.
It is no coincidence that great sailing champions including Tom Slingsby, Iker Martinez, Tom Burton and Diego Romero Paschetta chose to stay at our residence over the years. And certainly there was no shortage of celebrations this year, with 3 regattas dedicated to our Residence.
Is there a better way than a sailing trophy to honour our business? That’s what we thought together with Fraglia Vela from Riva del Garda, and for this reason we dedicated the Country Cup trophy, now in its eighth edition this year, to our residence. Young sailors came from all over the world to participate in the Garda Optimist Meeting from April 13th to 17th, competing to win the Residence Centro Vela Country Cup, the challenge that started the event.
Several nations participated with a team: the winner was Ukraine, giving the chance to the young Sviatoslav Madonich (who just a few weeks earlier had also won the Centenary Regatta) to send a strong message against the war. Second place went to Italy, with Alberto Avanzini, followed by Bulgarian sailor Viktor Stanoev in third place.
In July it was time for adult crews, with 9 teams that competed in the second regatta on Lake Garda to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our residence, which obviously also hosted the awards ceremony. The race was organized with the cooperation of the Riva del Garda section of the Lega Navale Italiana.
In October, we ended with the 5th Optimist Autumn Meeting – 45th Enzo Torboli Trophy, organized by Fraglia Vela Riva. This was a very exciting international edition, which saw the participation of 360 young people from around twenty countries, won by Madonich from Ukraine (the same winner as the Country Cup!).
For the celebration of our first 30 years in our Lake Garda residence, we couldn’t do without a special cake, enjoyed together with the members of our close-knit team and the people who accompanied us on this great adventure. The anniversary was a precious opportunity to once again testify our commitment to sports and the territory, with nature and sustainability always in mind.
We are sure we still have many years to spend together!
